Bio
Let's Get to Know Mrs. Malcom
Hello! My name is Stephanie Malcom and I am very excited to be teaching at Semmes Elementary for yet another wonderful school year. I want to tell you a little bit about myself. I attended elementary, middle, and high school in Mobile County. I graduated from Mary G. Montgomery in 1996, and headed off the following fall to the University of West Alabama in Livingston, Alabama to begin working on my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. I had always known I had wanted to be a teacher, so deciding what to major in was so easy for me. I graduated from UWA in 2000, and landed my first teaching job outside of Tuscaloosa in Bibb County as a fifth grade teacher. In the fall of 2001, I was hired in Jackson County, Mississippi to teach second grade at East Central Lower Elementary. I taught there for five years, and during that five years I married my sweet husband, Skipper Malcom, earned my Master’s Degree in Elementary Education, and gave birth to my extraordinary twins Aidan and Emmett. I gave birth to another amazing little girl named Vivi Anne in the summer of 2010, and we became a family of five. Aidan and Emmett are now Seniors at Mary G. Montgomery and Vivi Anne is in the Sixth Grade at Semmes Middle School. We are very active in our church, Tanner Williams United Methodist, where I am the Children's Programming Director. We love going to the movies and taking beach trips together, just like many of you.
This will be my seventeenth school year at Semmes Elementary, and my twenty-third year to teach. I am very honored to be a part of such an outstanding school and community. Let's SOAR Semmes Eagles!
Education:
I received my undergraduate degree from the University of West Alabama in Elementary Education in May of 2000.
I received my Masters in Elementary Education from the University of South Alabama in August of 2003.
I strongly believe in continuing my education so I can deliver the most current teaching strategies to my students. I LOVE to learn and I want to pass that love for learning onto every student I teach.
