💙❤️ It takes a TEAM to make a day this SEMMESATIONAL! ❤️💙 Today was truly one for the books, and we could not have pulled off our Most Semmesational Day without the incredible staff at Semmes Elementary! Our cafeteria crew went above and beyond creating our special “Park Lunches” and helping make lunchtime feel like part of the adventure! Our teachers transformed their classrooms—and sometimes themselves!—into magical, exciting spaces that made our students’ day unforgettable. From decorations to costumes to creative learning activities, they made the magic happen in every corner of our school. Our support staff jumped in wherever they were needed and added so many extra touches of fun and magic throughout the day. They truly helped bring all of our big ideas to life! From the surprises and special treats to the music, transformations, activities, and smiles, every single person played a part in making today so special. We are SO thankful for a staff who is willing to say, “Let’s do it!” and then make it happen. 🍎🌳 Johnny Appleseed Day was a-peel-ing! 🌳🍎 Our students celebrated with lots of apple science, hands-on exploring, and, of course… a little taste testing! 🧪🍏 From making observations to discovering what makes apples so unique, our little scientists had a bushel of fun learning together!

🔬🔥 Science + S’mores = a sweet experiment! 🍫 Our second graders tested materials to see what happens when heat is added to a material—and what better way to investigate than by making S’mores?! 😋 The students and Ms. Love donned their lab coats and goggles and got into the scientific spirit as they observed how heat changed their materials. 🥼🥽 Who says science can’t be delicious?! 🍪✨

🔬✨ Diversity Lab in PACE! ✨🔬

Our 4th & 5th grade PACE students became scientists this week as they investigated the biodiversity within their own classroom! From fingerprint patterns and tongue-rolling to dimples, and height, students discovered the many traits that make each of us unique.

Our students have been LOVING our "It Could Be Your Lucky Day" attendance incentive! Students are given a number in their classrooms 1-20. Each day we call a random number over the intercom and if that student is present, they come visit the prize cart! Fourth grader Taegan Senegal was extra lucky- her number was selected on her birthday! 🥳

Ms. Davis & Weaver’s Second Grade Mathematicians had a hundred reasons to learn today! Students explored three-digit place value by using eggs and egg cartons to build groups of 10, discovering how 10 tens make 1 hundred. Hands-on learning made place value egg-citing!

Learning by doing! Our 5th graders stepped back in time during a homesteading lesson in social studies and learned how families once made butter by hand. Through this hands-on experience, students connected history to everyday life and discovered just how much work went into making the foods we enjoy today! 🧈🍞

Second grade has been busy learning and collaborating! As part of our Open Court Teamwork unit, students worked together to create illustrations that matched vocabulary words from our story, The Mice Who Lived in a Shoe. They also put their scientist hats on and explored the properties of matter through a fun sink-or-float experiment! 🐭📚🔬 We love seeing teamwork, creativity, and curiosity in action! 💙
